Iranian scholar to discuss comparative literature in Baku

TEHRAN -- Iranian scholar Alireza Anushirvani is participating in the conference “Stereotypes in Literatures and Cultures” being held in Baku on November 21 and 22.
Anushirvani who is teaching at the University of Shiraz is to discuss and review the elements of modern comparative literature at the conference.Organized by the Azerbaijan Comparative Literature Association and Baku Slavic University, the conference aims to bring together scholars from both the West and the East, with varying understandings and views of nations and cultures, in order to offer a broad picture of current trends in literary and cultural studies.
The conference is supervised by scholar Rahilya Geybullayeva, Head of the Journalism and Azerbaijani Literature Department of Baku Slavic University.
Anushirvani has recently returned from the seminar “National Literature in the Age of Globalization” held at the University of Bucharest (October 31 to November 1). He had the opportunity to meet with members of the comparative literature associations of other countries.
According to Anushirvani, the seminar mainly focused on the image of Romanian literature in contemporary Western culture and on the former techniques of redefining its identity.
